Hi All! Merry December! Merry Darkest Month! I love these short, dark days!
I will make this not too wordy, because I have a lot of photos to share, and I know your time is precious. My collection this time, is made of three main groups- Thieving Little Bastards, some new Anatomica, and a wee bit of some new, smallish hanging art. I’m always trying to come up with smaller pieces that don’t take quite as long for me to create so that I can sell them more affordably. I’ll post photos of those last.
Anatomica
I love working on anatomical figures, but I wanted to try something new. So, I’ve created four anatomical torsos.
These dolls have been such a pleasure to create. Because they are a little bigger than the usual anatomical torsos that I work on (which usually end up with arms and legs), I’ve been able to let myself be carried away decorating them with lots of vines, leaves, berries and a few of them even have crows tattooed somewhere on them. These are completely unique. They are approximately 8 inches tall, can be hung by an embedded wire in the back, and will be priced at $325 each.
Thieving Little Bastards
What better doll to celebrate the holidays with than a starving street urchin? I’ve been sketching these little people for a few months and couldn’t quite get them out of my head. So, up they sprang with wire and clay in the middle of my work table. My first idea was much bleaker than this, so I must’ve taken a nice hike and had a bowl of soup or something, and the original bleaker, much deader orphans became a gang smalltime robbers of food. (I’m sure the deader orphans will resurface soon)
They are approximately 7.5 to 10 inches tall. They each have their own special hiding place for stolen goods, some hidden pocket or a bag that is supposed to be used for other purposes. They usually stick to robbing food, but once they had a run-in with Reginald Von Treakle, and maybe ended up with a few coins.
They each come with their own, hard-earned stolen food. The Thieving Little Bastards are being sold for $325 each. Reginald is being sold at a one-time only discounted price of $175. Why? I kinda feel sorry for him. With every little thief (and Reggie) sold, I will be donating $50 to my local food pantry, The Friendship Center, North Adams, MA, which helps the folks in my community be a little less hungry. I’ll post a photo of my receipt to this group once all is said and done.
Smaller, hanging art
The Magician’s Hands
K! I made two sets of Magician’s Hands. These are made of wire and clay. I love the simplicity. They sell for $60 a pair.
I Give You My Heart
I made two anatomical hearts that can be hung on a wall (or a festive seasonal tree of your choice!). They are each approximately the same size as a human heart and are approximately 4 inches high. They are being listed for $75 each.
Babas
It’s been a while since I’ve made some Babas, and kind of wanted a Baba face to watch over me. So I made one for myself and four to sell. They vary in size a bit, from 3 to 6 inches high. They were lovely to work with. I felt very protected. These will sell from $60 to $75, depending on size. (please note that these are not complete dolls, just their wise, wrinkled faces. I hope to make some more full sized Baba dolls again soon. Please let me know if you’re interested)
That’s the lot! My brain and fingers have already started on what comes next. I can’t wait to plunge back in full time.
The dolls go on sale in my Etsy shop tomorrow, Thursday December 9th at 12 pm EST.
Have a lovely solstice, and whatever else you celebrate.
As always, thank you so much for your support.
love, jana
